Most Adorable Commercial Ever
Usually I dislike the Android commercials. This one I think is too adorable for words...except for singing along because, yes, I know every word to that song.

Real Winter
It took a couple months, but finally we have some "real" winter weather happening here. I almost didn't get out of my neighborhood this morning to get to church. Then I almost didn't get out the church's neighborhood to get home...and then I barely got into the driveway. I was going to change clothes and then scoop the sidewalk, but when I got out of the car I was standing in snow halfway to my knee and decided I didn't care about changing clothes and just wanted to get it over with. So I got the dog and my shovel and went after it.

The neighbors borrowed my shovel to set up a sledding lane for their kiddos. The dog can't get enough of bounding through drifts that come up to his nose. Once things were scooped, I changed out of my church clothes and into warm, dry, comfy clothes and I am happy to stay as far from the snow as I can get before the adventure of getting to work tomorrow morning takes place.

Sometimes I'm jealous of my dog.
Sometimes I'm jealous of Samson. He has things so good. He sleeps when he wants to sleep, gets two treats a day (sometimes more), special food here and there, toys that don't get outdated, and long stays at the farm. And when he plays, it's a carefree, wind in your hair, all in type of play. Not sure I remember the last time I felt this free...
He had so much fun. All I could think about was how cold I was, how fast I could get the sidewalk scooped and how scooping snow is so bad for my bad shoulder...I'm so jealous of my dog.

First Day
How did you spend your first day of 2015?
I slept (more or less) until 9:30. Haven't done that in a while. (Not sure how well it counts as sleeping in when I didn't go to bed until about 1:30 anyway.) I cleaned a little...probably should have or at least could have done more. I watched some TV, took a nap, watched more TV, thought about taking another nap but didn't, and I intend to watch some movies tonight. I might eat some soup. I probably won't get anymore cleaning done.
Samson went in and out and in and out and somehow managed to track mud all through the kitchen and dining room. I have no idea how he got muddy feet. I mean, really! It's been so cold, how could the ground be anything but frozen?! Best guess is he had wet-with-snow feet and managed to mix that type of wet feet with the dirtiness of the steps outside the back door. However he did it, I have dog prints all over those two rooms. When he's not been outside, he's been napping, too.
I suppose I could have put away some of the Christmas decorations, done more than five dishes, put away more than the little bit of laundry I hung up, and a million other things on my to do lists. (Yes, lists - plural - I have more than one). Just haven't felt like I have the energy. Since worship team is rehearsing tomorrow evening instead of Saturday morning, I have rationalized my half-assed attempt at getting anything done today with the idea that I can do more or even finish some things on Saturday. We'll see how that goes.
That said...time to put in a movie.

I blame my mother.
So, Mom tells me yesterday how she has already finished the book I gave her for Christmas. I get home and look around. I'm surrounded by books. I would probably have to quit working and sit at home for years before I'd get all of them read...which sounds better to me than most people might believe and certainly than they'd wish on themselves. I decided that simply won't do. I can't quit working, but that doesn't mean I can't get after some reading.
Tonight the movie version of Bill O'Reilly's book Killing Lincoln is on the FoxNews Channel. Figured if I'm going to watch the movie (which is starting right now), I should read the book. So I started reading it last night. I've read a little bit tonight while other things were on and before picking up the technology.
So I will have to make sure I start carrying this book around with me and find times to read. I love to read and have many, many options from which to choose. So why don't I? Time? Energy? Lighting? The television? So many sorry excuses! I guess this is a little bit of a pre-New Year's resolution except that I'm not promising to read more or a certain number or anything like that. Just feeling that if I'm going to own so many books I aught to at least try to read a greater portion of them...
...I would wait until I retire and have more time, but my luck the economy will never allow that, so...I bow to the jealousy of Mom's managing to read a whole book in a short time.

"You're cranky! You need a nap!"
Indeed! I don't know how I get through some days. I was reminded again today what the little actress I can be. I don't know how I got through my work today, making newbies laugh, being patient with what surely was the embodiment of ignorance (or something) when all I wanted to do was be at home asleep in the recliner.
And I did fall asleep in the recliner tonight. I put on my pjs, made some dinner, ate a whole bunch and then rocked myself to sleep and ended up missing the weather report. (Darn it!) I fell asleep in the recliner yesterday afternoon and the day before, too. There's something about this chair!
In part this is my own fault. I'm not actually putting in enough hours in bed asleep. I have too many bad habits that shrink my sleep time and probably affect the quality, too. There's a New Year's resolution in there somewhere...if I was the type to make one of those.

Not the Usual "Buddy" Movie
I just watched a movie that I don't even know how it made it onto my Netflix list. It was amazing. I've seen Robert Downey Jr. before (who hasn't?), but not respected his acting so much as in this movie. I've seen Jamie Foxx in things before, too, but talk about an unbelievably difficult role! It was very moving. And, did I mention it's a true story? It's called "The Soloist."
