An Awesome Way to Spend a Weekend

I love the Henry Doorly Zoo.  I love it even more when I can take kids and see their excitement and curiosity lighting up their faces.  A couple weeks ago we took our family, and met more family at the zoo.  The youngest present is five years old and the oldest kid - 21.  Okay, so not really technically a kid, but, if you are going to the zoo with your dad and step-mother, you're a kid.

But I began in medias res.  On the 19th, I got to meet my step-son for the first time.  I feel older now knowing I have a 21-year-old step-son, but I'll take the win.  He's an awesome young man.  My beautiful step-daughter was with us that weekend, too, meeting her brother for the first time.  It was so exciting!

The next day, we took our foster-daughter and these two big kids and met Jim's sister and her family at the zoo.  We spent the vast portion of the day exploring together.  That night Jim grilled steaks and we all just hung out relaxing after a long day in the sun.  There was football-throwing, dog-walking, and just having a nice time together.

Sunday we all went to church together...and there was no electricity due to a thunderstorm the night before.  So instead of an organ in the sanctuary, we had a trombone in the Gathering Place.  We had brunch together at Village Inn and then the boys spent some time together without all us girls hanging around.

Monday was the eclipse and all the excitement that went along with that, but we also had to say goodbye (for now) to Austin.  But we're making plans for him to come again for Thanksgiving.

I have an unconventional but beautiful family.  I'm so grateful for them and love them to pieces.  Here's my favorite picture from the day at the zoo.  If you haven't met these two "kids" yet, I hope you get to soon.  They are amazing (like their dad).

The Album

Life has been so crazy (items for another post) I've been quite derelict in my duties and failed to put the link to our wedding pictures on here...until now.

Enjoy!!

Wedding Picture Teaser...Sort of

We finally received the link to the online gallery of our wedding pictures from the photographers last night.  It was a nice way spend time on Valentine's Day night - looking through our wedding pictures for the first time.

I'm not posting that link here...yet.

On Monday, they sent us a link to a slideshow of images from the gallery set to music.  We've shared it with a few folks.  Here it is for those interested.

Once we've had a chance to really look at our pictures and choose one or two for our formal announcements, we'll share the gallery with everyone.  Meanwhile, enjoy the "teaser."

Once Upon Another Sunday...

I absolutely dropped the ball on posting about the wedding preparations.  I guess I was a little busy actually preparing for the wedding and the holidays.  So, here's the proof that the event really did take place.

In about 38-degrees, we braved the cold and stepped into our future together.  We were blessed to have our families with us on our special day.  We are anxious to get our pictures from the photographers.  There should be a lot of really great ones and we can hardly wait to share them with everyone.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day beautiful.  And if any of you who were in attendance have any pictures to share, please do!  So far, this is the only one I have.

It was an amazing way to start the new year.
