Thought on politics...

Has anyone else noticed that the media does a lot of interviewing of politicians, pollsters, analysts, fellow members of the media, but where are the interviews of the general public?  Has anyone seen the random guy off the street being asked what he thinks of the budget?  Anyone asked a farmer?  A financial planner who is not from a giant firm?  The owner of a small business in a random town?  And so on and so forth?  Maybe I've just missed it.  It seems to me that the average person (despite the varying views from locale to locale, faith to faith, culture to culture) would have something to say about which programs have budget cuts.  For example, why - why on God's green earth are tax payers funding a special barber shop for folks at the Capitol?  Seriously?  I can barely afford to get my own hair cut!  Why are my tax dollars paying for a Rep from a state I don't live in to get his hair trimmed before heading to "work"?  It makes no sense and I don't recall anyone asking me if I thought it was okay.  *sigh*  Just had to put that out there because it has been irritating me...maybe I need to stop watching the news.

From the hands of babes...

Nikki drew this yesterday on the bit of chalkboard Mom and Dad have on the landing at their house.  She said it was Baby Jesus.  Not sure what the big yellow/orange critters are standing above him (Baby Jesus would be the purple circle with the arms and legs sticking out if you hadn't figured that), but I would guess they are animals from the stable...or something like that.  Either way - Baby Jesus everyone.  I like that he is smiling.  :)

Did I mention my car got stuck?

So...Saturday I managed to get the car stuck part way down the driveway.  Getting out of the driveway this morning contributed to some great muddy pits in the driveway.  And, of course, I then got to fill them in.

This may give you an idea of how deep the pits were.

Before...

Go me!  All filled in...and I did it in my dress clothes.  :-p

Ice, Ice, Baby...

This was my windshield this morning.  Good thing I brushed the snow off the car before trying to leave for church!

More snow pictures...

An indication of how deep the snow is in the front yard.  (Smurfskin boots go great with my church clothes!)

So proud of Samson's good behavior outside the fence.
He's too fast to get a good shot of him doing his Tigger bounce through the snow, so this one will have to do.  :-)

Weird how the snow has melted just under the patio furniture.  And there's my weapon for all the scooping I did!

More of that downed limb...

Dad, I hope you feel like coming to cut up a tree limb.

Maybe easier to see how much tree is on the ground.

These are the only pieces small enough I could move.

And then there was...

...this tree and its fallen limbs - not mine.  (Note the branch hanging out of the gutter/off the roof.)

So glad this isn't on my roof!

Did you notice the crack in the branch?  This one is hanging on by a thread.  That's all that kept it off my roof...and off my car!

Hoping you can make out the debris field.

Remember what my car looked like before?  And the lack of any sign of a sidewalk?  I scoop heavy, wet snow really well!  ;-)

Snow anyone?

It's about time winter showed up!

Backyard

Cool gate!

Cables touching the roof of the shed are the cable TV cables.

This was fun to clean off.

Samson loves playing in the snow and was a very good boy staying in our front yard with no fence.
