Hi there! Been at Mom and Dad's since Friday afternoon. My cousin Ben got married this weekend. (More about that in another post.) But, first, I had to share how I got ready to come to the farm from Omaha. I had special helpers for packing...
It was hilarious!
Al kept climbing into my bags which amused Nikki to no end.
Note the toys in my bag. She was putting Jesus, Peter and their boat, and Captain Kirk and Sulu into my suitcase and back out again. That was when she wasn't unpacking my clothes.
It was all too cute to get irritated. :)
Ciao!

Official...again...
Went to the DMV today and got my new Nebraska driver's license. It's the best license picture I ever had! I'd share it here, but a picture of my diver's license on the internet? I already sent it to some folks...and then realized my stats are on it. Like my b-day, my height, weight (*shudder*) and et cetera. Oh well...I can trust you all...right? :p
Car should be official sometime next week. Paperwork has to get mailed back and forth I'm told.
Ciao! :)

Mother's Day
Welcome to the First Annual Mother's Day Picnic in the Park!
For Mother's Day this year (that was May 10th, by the way) we had most of my family, Dad's brother's family and Grandma Haack. And my sister-in-law's family came, too! We went to Tahazouka Park in Norfolk, Nebraska. It was a little on the chillier side, but folks had fun feeding the fish, geese and ducks and the kids played on the playground. We ate sloppy joes and chips and cookies and all sorts of wonderful things! Here are a few pictures from the event! :)
It was a lot of fun! I hope we can do it again and increase the amount of people who come! Maybe we can even try different locations to make it more interesting!

Things to do while convalescing in the country...Friday & Saturday...
Friday the first two calves were born. Since I was still convalescing, I ended up doing what every sick person does to feel better...go help Dad process calves! (For those of you who don't know my Dad's methodologies or lingo, that means he writes down their vital statistics such as weight, gave them a shot and puts a tag in their ear.)
I got a few pictures of the babies earlier in the day. Here's one...

Saturday I was finally starting to feel okay. Still dealing with the nasty sinus infection, but at least I was functional again!
So, what does one do while convalescing in the country near the end of that convalescence? Help Mom with yard work, of course!!
While she mowed the lawn, I trimmed some bushes. All these branches came off a couple bushes at the front of the house...
This is what they looked like when I was done chopping off branches, but before I did the pruning to give them better shape...
Sunday we took it easy. Mom and I went to church and then watched some TV. I left in the afternoon. Convalescing sure can keep a person busy! :p

Things to do while convalescing in the country...Thursday...
April 30th...I had been out of commission for three and a half days...it was now Thursday and Mom said I had to go outside and get some fresh air, so...
Since I was outside I needed something to do...so, I watched Dad work...
See Dad work. Dad works hard!
Guess the fresh air was good for me, because this is me helping Dad work...
Must have been too much for me, because then I took a break.
For those of you with sharp eyes, yes, that is Pepe Le Pew. Mom said I needed to go outside and get some fresh air. She didn't say I couldn't put on a pair of Dad's boots and one of his jackets over my Pepe Le Pew pajamas to do it!

I'm not going to do a day-by-day update of the last two weeks if that's what you are thinking. Much too tedious and I didn't do much of anything...most of the time.
This is what I did Sunday afternoon...
Playing the piano with Nikki and Ivy! What's not to love about that!
However! By Sunday night I was sick with an, to quote Mom, "exceptionally violent" case of the flu. No swine involved!! I spent two days recovering from that. I had arrived at the farm on Friday, the 24th with a serious cold. Then I had the flu and before I left on Sunday, May 3rd, we figured out I had a sinus infection that was starting to get better. Too much fun!!
